Plant Operations Manager

General Job description: 
The Plant Operations Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement and optimization of all processes. He/she will oversee all daily production and maintenance as well as lead a team of 4 Shift Supervisors in a 24/7 operation while developing processes that will maximize safety, quality, cost targets, service levels and productivity.
Principle functions of the job:
  • Adhere to all current GMP’s, food safety requirements and company policies
  • Organize and direct Shift Supervisors to perform day-to-day operations that exceed our customers’ expectations
  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards
  • Responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping to the Bethel warehouse
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions as needed
  • Recruit, manage and develop production staff
  • Understand production schedule to ensure efficient and effective labor management
  • Manage, motivate, train and coordinate staff to meet productivity, quality and food safety requirements
  • Document and log all required information accurately and timely
  • Comfortable working in high paced, wet, oily and noisy environment
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area (including equipment) and environment
  • Manage team during the process of cleaning and sanitizing the plant and plant equipment including but not limited to packing machines, walls and floors
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with the rest of the team; understand spreadsheets and formulas
  • Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager or upper management
Additional job skills:
  • Proven working experience in production management environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Management or related field
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, planning, resource allocation, human resources)
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Adequate knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation and inventory processes
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptable and detail oriented; ability to multi-task
